映画『蟻の兵隊』下高井戸シネマで上映開始

昨年7月22日、渋谷イメージフォーラムで公開して以来、全国30箇所の劇場とほぼ80箇所の自主上映会で、6万人以上の観客を動員した映画『蟻の兵隊』が、久しぶりに東京へ戻ってきた。世田谷区松原にある｢下高井戸シネマ｣に於いて2月17日から3月2日まで上映される。

映画『蟻の兵隊』は、話題性もさることながら、キネマ旬報の文化映画部門ベストテンで第2位に選ばれ、キネ旬ベストテンではすべての日本映画を対象とした日本映画部門で15位にランクされている。映画『蟻の兵隊』がドキュメンタリー映画であることを考えると15位は大健闘である。

映画『蟻の兵隊』は、いわゆる｢日本軍山西省残留問題｣を扱ったドキュメンタリー映画で、終戦当時、中国の山西省にいた北支派遣軍第１軍の将兵 59000人のうち約2600人が、ポツダム宣言に違反して武装解除を受けることなく中国国民党系の軍閥に合流した。

戦後も、なお４年間共産党軍と戦い続け、約550人が戦死し、700人以上が捕虜となった。これら元残留兵らは 、当時戦犯だった軍司令官が責任追及への恐れから軍閥と密約を交わし「祖国復興」を名目に残留を画策したと、主張している。

一方、国は「自らの意志で残り、勝手に戦争を続けた」とみなし、元残留兵らが求める戦後補償を拒み続けてきた。 2005年、元残留兵らは軍人恩給の支給を求めて最高裁に上告したが、敗訴が確定している。

敗戦後も、軍命令により、中国・山西省に余儀なく残留させられ、中国共産党と戦い続けた元日本兵奥村和一（82）さん。「自分たちは、なぜ残留させられたのか？」。真実を明らかにするために中国に向かった。これは、奥村さんが日本軍山西省残留問題の真相を解明しようと孤軍奮闘する姿を追ったドキュメンタリーである。

今も、奥村さんの体内に残る無数の砲弾の破片。 長い抑留生活を経て帰国した後の逃亡兵の扱い。｢蟻のようにも黙々と戦って死んだ仲間のことを思うとやりきない｣という心情が活動の原点だ。こんな理不尽なことがあっていいのか。

国家という組織は、これからも、蟻一匹のことなど、歯牙にもかけないでしょうね。
