プロムス2006ラスト・ナイト・コンサート

日曜日（18日）、｢プロムス2006ラスト・ナイト・コンサート｣(NHK教育午後10：20〜翌日午前0：15)を最後まで観てしまった。日曜日だけは、早く寝るようにしているが、番組の誘惑にはとても勝てなかった。しかし、最後まで付き合って大きな収穫をえた。

プロムス（PROMS）はプロムナード・コンサートの略。歴史は古く、1895年に始まり今年で112年目を迎える。途中からBBCがスポンサーとなり、BBCプロムスと呼ばれる。低料金で最高のクラシック音楽を多くの観客に楽しんでらうというのがコンサートの趣意。

ロンドンのサウス・ケンジントンにあるロイヤル・アルバート・ホールを中心に、8週間にわたり、100以上のイベントが催行される。祭典の最後の日は、ラスト・ナイト・コンサートと呼ばれ、観客も演奏に参加し、オーケスト・ラサイドも羽目を外して、大いに盛り上がる。　

会場のロイヤル・アルバート・ホールは収容人員8000人とされるが、特にラスト・ナイト・コンサートは、超満員となり、近くのハイドパークに、プロムス・イン・ザ・パークなるテレビ中継大型スクリーンが設置され、そこにも聴衆が大勢集まる。

ラスト・ナイト・コンサートは、2005年からは、マンチェスター、スウォンジ、ベルファスト、グラスゴーの会場にも、テレビ中継大型スクリーンが設置され、全国的な規模で、この音楽の祭典を一緒に楽しめるようなった。

プロムス（PROMS）の圧巻は、ロイヤル・アルバート・ホールの大合唱団と大観客が、ハイドパークや、マンチェスター、スウォンジ、ベルファスト、グラスゴーの各会場に集まった聴衆と一緒になって、イギリス国歌を唱和する場面である。

国歌を歌う聴衆一人ひとりの顔が、自分たちの国を誇りに思い、幸福感で輝いているのです。そうだ。長い間、この感覚を忘れていました。いまの私には、自分の国を誇りに思う感情が喪失しているのだ。なんだかんだ言ったって、この地に生を受けて、生きているではないか。その幸せを感謝しろ！　だ。

私たち一人ひとりが、一緒になって、なんのわだかまりもなく、手を携えて、歌える歌が一つもない現状は、猛烈に悲しいことです。
