｢青蔵鉄道｣―いま一番行ってみたい旅

この｢青蔵鉄道｣の試乗リポートが、今年のNHKお正月番組で放送され、標高4000mを凌ぐチベット高原を列車でいっきに駆け抜けるのは、まさに天空を翔けるがごとくロマン溢れる旅行です。1980年4月から1981年3月にかけて放送されたNHK第１次｢シルクロード―絲綢之路｣を見た時の感動を思い出します。

｢青蔵鉄道｣は青海省の西寧とチベット自治区のラサ（拉薩）を結ぶ鉄道。全長は1956キロメートル。青蔵鉄道の「蔵」は、「チベット自治区」を中国語で「西蔵自治区」と表記することにちなんでいます。

｢青蔵鉄道｣の開通により、チベット自治区に初めて鉄道が通ることになりました。青海省からチベット自治区にかけての高原を青蔵高原と呼びますが、青蔵鉄道はこの青蔵高原をほぼ南北に縦断しており、標高4000メートル以上の鉄路が960キロメートルに及んでいます。その土地は永久凍土が550キロメートルに達しており、工事は難関を極めました。タンラ（唐古拉）山口駅は、標高5072メートルで、「世界一高い場所にある鉄道駅」の名誉を勝ち取りました。

3月6日付「人民網日本語版」によれば、国家発展改革委員会はこのほど、青海省と西蔵（チベット）自治区を結ぶ青蔵鉄道の西寧〜ゴルムド（格爾木）間の複線化案を認可しました。現在のプロジェクトを基盤にして、西寧〜格爾木間の356キロメートルに第2線路を敷設し、同時に全線が電化されます。

また、青蔵鉄道第2線路増設プロジェクトでは、運転速度目標時速160キロメートル、一日当り運送能力客車20往復、貨物輸送年間5千万トンなどが計画されています。

ちなみに、青蔵鉄道を運営する青蔵鉄路公司と中国科学院地理資源所では、2020年までにコンロン（昆侖）峠、ココシリ（可可西里）、アムド（安多）などのエリアを観光拠点として開発し、毎年10％以上の鉄道利用客増を目指し、2025年の鉄道利用客は590万人を見込んでいます。なお、2006年７月１月の青蔵鉄道全線開通から同年末までにチベットへの観光客は192万人に達し前年同期より５割増を記録しました。当りましたね。

列車は、青海省のゴルムド（格爾木）から、チベット自治区のラサまで、約1142kmの高原を走破します。車窓からは、馬に乗って草原を歩むチベット族の人々や、のんびり草をはむヤクの群れに遭遇します。果てしなく澄み渡る青空と、大地の両側を走る銀嶺の山々の眺望を満喫しながら、標高4000mのチベット高原を列車で駆け抜ける。天空列車の異名も肯けます。　

青海省を走る二つの山脈、コンロン（崑崙）山脈とタングラ（唐古拉）山脈を越えながら、6000m級の山々が連なるチベット高原のパノラマを　車窓から楽しめるのは、最高の贅沢です。早く行きたいなあ。
